Climbing/Rappelling

A glorious summer day lended itself to our taking advantage of the sister of our fearless leader and inducing her to give an introductory ropes course during the Ring's Sunday practice. Since this is what she does for a living in Colorado, we were lucky to have her spend her vacation working hard at keeping us from crashing into the ground!

Thanks, Lisa!

We try to organize special activities to break up endless hours of basic blade practice, so this was a welcome diversion.

Lisa R. Barbeau, with a MA from the University of Michigan School of Natural Resources in Environmental Education and Advocacy, is a professional challenge course & wilderness adventure leader employed by the City of Denver Parks and Recreation Department.

Michigan Staduim serves as a convenient location for climbing as it is simply a few hundred feet across a parking lot to reach from our practice facility STAC!

Matt "boots" Fulton is out of uniform as he descended (in this virtual flipbook) from the heights!

Gail, taking advantage of the special activity, looked like she was ready for anything as she prepared for the descent. She got a few last minute pointers from our guest instructor, Lisa Barbeau.
Everyone kept busy while awaiting for their turn and enjoyed fighting outdoors. 13 folk actually got to make a descent during about 2.5 hours of practice. Our fearless leader managed an inglorious start, but demonstrated usual form after what he claimed was a mere theatrical device!

Special thanks to: Mishka Dudash, William Gray, and Scott Mancha for their efforts at recording this event
